A clash between two factions of the Trinamool Congress took place in the Patharghata area of New Town over an alleged land dispute involving a local club. The incident occurred in the Chhabna locality under the Patharghata Panchayat, where multiple shops were reportedly being constructed on land claimed to belong to the club. Local TMC workers, including the club secretary, reached the site to stop the construction when they were allegedly attacked by members of a rival TMC faction.
According to the complaint filed, the rival faction was led by former panchayat member and TMC leader Jahirul Hazra. The complainants alleged that Hazra’s group assaulted them at the site. In a counter-complaint, Jahirul Hazra accused Mozammel and his supporters of attacking the TMC party office in Chhabna and injuring his group’s workers. Both factions submitted written complaints at the Techno City Police Station regarding the incident.
Following the confrontation, police were deployed in the area to prevent further escalation. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely. No official statement on arrests or injuries has been issued as of now. The matter remains under investigation by local law enforcement.
